Here we are, it's Ash Wednesday. What did you give up for Lent?
Wanna know what I gave up? I gave up Facebook. It's not even the end of the first day and I'm freaking out. Like someone needs to pull me off of this computer because it's all I can do from reactivating my account!
I had to deactivate it otherwise I'd find ways to get on. I'd get a notification on my phone and I'd be right on it. This is really hard, but I feel it's important. I was getting too addicted. And really, it wasn't about posting. I got my news on FB (listening to me acting like I'll never be able to get on again), I got to see what was going on in everyone's lives. Deals! Oh my, from Sephora to Old Navy and Gardein! I got coupons on FB and not to mention the schools post things we need to know on FB.
So people, I need your help. What can I do to occupy my time until Easter?

Be careful that the time that you would normally spend on Facebook doesn't turn into Pinterest time. Like giving up one evil for another. Maybe doing a bible study or something. That way you are using that time that you would be online in a way that will bring you closer to God... Just an idea. Good luck! If I hear anything particularly juicy on the book of faces I will be sure to let you know. :)
Thanks friend. I don't think I'll exchange one vice for the other. However, I think when my new adventure begins I'll be using that Pinterest option to create and keep my busy. I will tell you that it's been a challenge. Especially this weekend when I want to post pics or status updates of what's going on in life and remember that the only option I have is Twitter. :(
OMG! i did the same thing! We are a few weeks in, and honestly i did peek. But much to my dismay, I was really disappointed at how much brazen negativity is actually on there. The smart aleck (? Spelled right) tags to photos, "in-your-face" comments indirectly pointed at others, etc...
I can say now, I feel more focused on things that actually matter to me more. I have more convo's with my family, face-to-face connectivity, waay less distraction to it all. We need to detox ourselves from social media or just media period. Your strong willed, YOU CAN DO IT!

It has been hard. I realized that I tend to use FB instead of doing what needed to be done, like clean... Good luck staying off, it's not too far off, Easter will be here before you know it.
